Ushers at St. Norbert Parish perform the familiar tasks of passing out the collection baskets during Mass and distributing church bulletins after Mass. They also carry out a number of important tasks:
- Finding seating for people when the church is crowded.
- Helping the disabled and if requested, arranging to have Holy Communion brought to their pews.
- Ensuring congregants have volunteered for the Offertory Presentation of the Gifts.
- Answering any questions from parishioners or guests.
By assuring a welcoming presence and orderly seating at Masses, Ushers enhance the beauty of the Liturgy and become an instrument through whom God may be present to those at worship.
Ushers Time Commitment
Ushers serve at least once a month. Ushers arrive about twenty minutes before Mass and stay about ten minutes after the assembly has departed.
Ushers faithfully perform their duties for weekend Masses and on Holy Days of Obligation. Ushers may also serve at funeral Masses to honor the deceased members of our parish. They are on hand to assist the family and funeral attendees, especially those who may not be familiar with St. Norbert Parish.
