In the event of the death of a loved one
- Call your Funeral Director and inform them of your desire to have a Catholic Funeral at St. Norbert Parish. The Funeral Director will contact St. Norbert to inform the Parish of the death.
- A Bereavement Minister will contact you usually within 24 hours to help plan your funeral liturgy. This includes the music, readings and intentions as well as selecting gift bearers, readers and Eucharistic ministers. The Minister of Bereavement will coordinate everything with the Priest, Funeral Director, and Music Director, before and during the service.
Family members of the deceased may be uncomfortable with the planning and participation of liturgies, especially during such a difficult time. Do not worry, our Bereavement Ministers are carefully trained in helping families and will provide guidance through this process.
Music is an essential component of a Funeral. It touches everyone and brings great memories about a loved one. Please open this link to see our recommended song list. Once you open, you can double click on a song title to hear a recording. Funeral Music Selections.
Our Bereavement Ministers are also available to assist you in the pre-planning of a funeral. While people do not hesitate to pre-plan the funeral home portion of a funeral, they hesitate to plan the liturgy. We encourage you to let us help you pre-plan the funeral liturgy, for yourself or other loved ones. The family will be given a copy of the funeral preplan and it will be kept on file with the Ministry of Bereavement at St. Norbert Parish.
