Spiritual Life Organizations
Central to the purpose of parish life is the spirituality of our members. At the heart of the parish movements and activities is our common worship through liturgies, special celebrations, the fostering of individual prayer and discerning God’s will for our lives.

Eucharistic Ministers
Eucharistic Ministers are confirmed men and women at least sixteen years old who distribute Communion. The ministry is exercised after instruction and upon being mandated. Enrichment opportunities are offered periodically for ongoing formation.

Lectors
Lectors are those who proclaim the Word of God at Mass as well as other occasions of public worship. These ministers are confirmed men and women who are expected to read well in public, prepare privately for their assignments, enrich their personal prayer through the use of Sacred Scripture, and attend ongoing formation offerings.

Ministry of Music
St. Augustine said, “Singing is twice praying.” We also recognize the value of enhancing prayer with good music. The parish Music Director oversees the music of the weekend liturgies and special events, and is responsible for the selection and execution of music.

The 11:30 AM Parish Choir practices and sings nine months of the year (September through early June), and is always open and welcoming to enthusiastic and able voices. The 11:30 AM choir sings a wide repertoire of sacred music, ranging from Gregorian chant to contemporary music, but its main focus is music of a more classical style in four parts. They practice on Wednesday evenings in the church from 7:30 until 9:00 PM.

The 5:30 Contemporary Choir sings two Sundays per month from September through early June. This choir is made of voices and instrumentalists who lead the assembly in mostly contemporary church music. The Contemporary Choir rehearses on the Sundays on which they sing from 4:00 PM until 5:30 PM. The Contemporary Choir is open to singers and instrumentalists of high school age and older.

Music is provided for the Children’s Liturgy of the Word (which runs from approximately September through April, two Masses per month, at the 9:30 AM Mass) by singers and instrumentalists who focus on music which is appropriate for children. Children from second grade and older are encouraged to sing with the Children’s Liturgy of the Word Choir, which rehearses immediately before the Mass for which they sing, beginning at 8:45 AM.

Cantors also lead the song of the assembly at weekend Masses. We always welcome new members for all of our music ministries.

Ushers
The ushers assist at all Sunday and Holy Day Masses. They facilitate the welcoming of all people, offer service to people in need of special accommodations, assist in seating, provide for the comfort and safety of people in church and the collection of weekly offerings. The ministry is open to men and women of all ages.

Sacristans
The hands-on upkeep and maintenance of the sanctuary, vessels and linens are the primary responsibility of this group who volunteer their time each week. The beauty and order of our church are a tribute to their fine efforts.
