The purpose of the Parish Pastoral Council is to be a consultative aid to the pastor and his staff in their ministry, and a voice of discernment, focus and direction for the parish at large. The Council promotes community, provides recommendations for parish priorities and directions through pastoral planning, and promotes communication and understanding among parish organizations and between the parish, archdiocese and universal church. Members serve a three-year term. Meetings are held the second Monday of the month at 7:30 PM in the parish center.

Women’s Club
Whether you are looking for Christian fellowship, friendship, or active volunteerism—or all three!—The St. Norbert Women’s Club is the place to be. Open to all women of the parish, the Women’s Club is comprised of women of all walks of life. Divided into more than 10 guilds that typically meet monthly from September to June, the group includes women new to Northbrook, as well as those who have been part of the parish for many years. Some of the women have small children, while others house teenagers or are empty nesters. Some women devote a large portion of their time to Women’s Club functions; others offer what they can when they can. What’s important, of course, is what we can accomplish as a group. Our primary function is to support St. Norbert Parish—spiritually, socially, and financially. Some of the ways we have done so are through the parish clothing drive, the holiday cookie walk, women’s social gatherings, and our largest fund-raiser, Whale of a Sale.

The Men’s Club is open to all adult male members of the parish. It meets on the first Monday evening of the month in the Church Basement Hall. The Men's Club sponsors annual functions such as the St. Patrick's Dinner/Dance, Oktoberfest Dinner/Dance, and Chili Bash. It is an integral part of the St. Norbert Block Party. It also conducts a Parish Raffle. Funds raised are donated back to the church and school and to other worthy causes.

Respect-Life Committee
The mission of the Respect Life Committee is to acknowledge and support the incomparable worth of the human person from conception to natural death by emphasizing a consistent life ethic and keeping in mind that abortion and euthanasia are the preeminent threats to life and human dignity in our society today. Our goals are to promote the culture of life through prayer and other spiritual works, charitable acts celebrating the Gospel of Life, parish education, collaborating with other groups supporting the dignity of life and addressing state and federal legislative issues. We recognize that there are many forms of violence against life, such as abortion, arms trade, euthanasia, assisted suicide, embryonic stem cell research, cloning, capital punishment, contraception, drug abuse, lack of care for the disabled, elderly and sick, racism, sexism, techniques of artificial reproduction, unjust distribution of world resources and unjust war. The committee consists of parish men and women of all ages. We meet once per month from a picnic in August through May. Together we organize a variety of spiritual, educational, social, and advocacy activities for all ages in the parish.

High School Youth Ministry
St. Norbert Youth Ministry is a very important program for our high schoolers. It is a way for them to stay connected with the church. We do this by offering a variety of events blending religion, service to the community, and recreation. We want our teens to be able to gather with their peers who are fellow Catholics in a safe and comfortable environment to share their feelings on the difficult issues that face them today.
SNYM offers “Bridging the Gap Between Faith and Everyday Life for Teens,” a program held on selected Sundays in St. Norbert’s Vineyard. This is a great opportunity for high schoolers to gather and enjoy a meal together while discussing topics that affect their everyday life. There are special Vine Times throughout Advent and Lent where deeper faith issues are explored. We hold a Kairos retreat for Juniors and Seniors in the fall, and a Freshman retreat in the winter. Some of the service projects we engage in are Hilda’s Place Soup Kitchen every month, Summer Service Trips (Teen Service Week and Habitat for Humanity), and the Giving Tree. Some of our recreational activities include Great America, CYO Basketball, Christmas in Chicago, and ski trips.
Look to The Vine in the Sunday bulletins for up-to-date information on SNYM!
