St. Norbert Youth Ministry is a very vibrant and important program with a High School Youth Ministry (SNYM) program as well as a Junior Youth Ministry (SNJYM) program. It is a way for teens to connect with the church and to feel a part of our Catholic community. We offer a variety of events blending religion, service to the community, and recreation.
SNYM for high schoolers has a wonderful program called “Bridging The Gap Between Faith & Everyday Life With Teens” during which we discuss various topics in mainstream culture and how they relate to our faith life. For our younger members, we have the Freshman and Sophomore Winter Retreat in January; and for our Juniors and Seniors, we are offering two Kairos retreats this year – our Fall Kairos in November, and our new Spring Kairos in March. Our service projects include feeding the homeless at Hilda’s Place Soup Kitchen and “Feed My Starving Children,” assisting the elderly of our parish, helping with the Giving Tree in December, and becoming involved in our Parish choirs and events. Our summer service trips, Teen Service Week and Habitat for Humanity, are a great way to nurture friendships and to build community. Recreational activities include CYO Basketball, ski trips, and celebrations.
SNJYM for 7th and 8th graders offers a variety of activities focused on this age group that are fun, spiritual, and build a sense of community. We help feed those less fortunate through “Feed My Starving Children” and at Hilda’s Place in January. We are making fleece blankets and are going to Crestwood Place to spread holiday cheer in December. We are also looking for Parents to help with organizing and chaperoning the events. High schoolers are welcome to join us to help lead the activities and to add to the fun. |
