St. Norbert Youth Ministry is a very important program for our high schoolers. It is a way for them to stay connected with the church. We do this by offering a variety of events blending religion, service to the community, and recreation. We want our teens to be able to gather with their peers who are fellow Catholics in a safe and comfortable environment to share their feelings on the difficult issues that face them today.
SNYM offers “Bridging the Gap Between Faith and Everyday Life for Teens,” a program held on selected Sundays in St. Norbert’s Vineyard. This is a great opportunity for high schoolers to gather and enjoy a meal together while discussing topics that affect their everyday life. There are special Vine Times throughout Advent and Lent where deeper faith issues are explored. We hold a Kairos retreat for Juniors and Seniors in the fall, and a Freshman retreat in the winter. Some of the service projects we engage in are Hilda’s Place Soup Kitchen every month, Summer Service Trips (Teen Service Week and Habitat for Humanity), and the Giving Tree. Some of our recreational activities include Great America, CYO Basketball, Christmas in Chicago, and ski trips. |
