Members of the Women’s Council join together frequently to accomplish projects that benefit our parish and greater community:
Family Fun Events
Several times a year, family-friendly events are organized by a Council guild in conjunction with St. Norbert Youth Ministries to celebrate the holiday. The Halloween, Gingerbread House Night and St. Patrick’s Day gatherings include activities for young children, entertainment and food. Everyone is invited!
St. Norbert Parish is home to some talented bakers as evidenced by the popular Cookie Walk, held in early December. Parishioners are asked to bake and donate several dozen cookies that are dropped off and inventoried on a Saturday morning. Buyers line up early Sunday to fill their boxes with their favorites. Refreshments are served as the treats disappear quickly!
Our guilds engage in a large variety of ongoing and single event service projects. From serving meals to the homeless to visiting the elderly, many members give their time, talent and treasure as they serve the needs of St. Norbert and countless other communities.
The Annual Gala is St. Norbert Parish’s largest fundraiser. The funds raised through this event are used to support ministries within our parish, school and community. The Gala, held at a local country club, features a gourmet dinner, drinks and a silent and live auction. Many Council members donate their time and talents (and sometimes their treasure) to organize, decorate, set up and make the evening a memorable event for all.
Lent would not be complete without a Friday night Fish Fry. This annual Lenten event brings the parish together for an evening of dining and conversation. Hundreds enjoy pre-ordered meals prepared by an outside caterer. The pasta plate is very popular with small fries who might not care for fish! Guild members serve entrees and provide home-baked desserts.
The elders of St. Norbert are honored each Spring with the Senior Dinner prepared and served by a Women’s Council guild. Many look forward to it as a time to catch up with friends and talk with those they see daily at mass.
Whale of A Sale
The St. Norbert Parish Whale of a Sale is an annual two-day rummage sale that takes place in May. This is a parish-wide event that offers local and surrounding community residents an economical place to shop for life’s necessities (and the occasional luxury), while proceeds benefit St. Norbert Parish. Thousands of donated items completely fill the gym and overflow to other rooms and the parking lot! Unsold items are donated to organizations in need.
